Advanced Practice Provider/ Instr. Endocrinology Med. (Finance)
Under general supervision and in accordance with standardized procedures, this position is responsible for performing physical examinations and treating common episodic and chronic health care problems, counseling patients and families, monitoring patient progress, assisting with medical research projects. Works in collaboration with other health care team members, consulting and referring as appropriate, but retains responsibility for ongoing clinical management of the patient, including diabetes management and ongoing care.Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor. \n Master's or Medical degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. This position requires graduation from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse academic degree program and certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64. Prescriptive responsibilities are reviewed by collaborative physician. \n Coordinates the care of select patient populations, in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician, to ensure promotion of health and wellness through education of patients and families, coordination of services and placing referrals. \n Develops treatment plans, treats patients with acute problems including illnesses and minor injuries following a predetermined protocol in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician. Instructs and counsels patients, involves patients in informed decision making with regard to illness, procedures, treatment regiments and activities of daily living. \n Considers the patients and families' physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs when planning care. \n Provides referral of patients needing diabetes education including pump and sensor training to the appropriate individuals at the USF Diabetes Center. Will work in an outpatient setting, acting as a member of the interdisciplinary team that facilitates the continuum of care and education of patients with diabetes. \n Participates in professional development and life long learning. Participates in service education programs and professional associations. Assesses development needs of staff and develops and delivers appropriate educational programs to meet staff needs. \n Maintains compliance with established policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection control and requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies. May participate in medical research projects, follow treatment protocols, screen and refer patients for research participation. Will assist in collection of data, attend research meetings, and follow up with patients. \n Provides referral of patients needing diabetes education including pump and sensor training to the appropriate individuals at the USF Diabetes Center. Will work in an outpatient setting, acting as a member of the interdisciplinary team that facilitates the continuum of care and education of patients with diabetes. \n Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, service, and related activities. May be responsible for research and/or academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.
