Psychological Counselor (College of NSM Psychological Counselor) (Finance)
A full-time, benefits-eligible position commencing January 2, 2025.
Minimum qualifications:
A Master's degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work. Licensure is required at time of interview. We welcome applicants who do not have prior counseling center experience provided candidates clearly articulate how their experience in other settings can be translated to a counseling center/higher education setting. The successful candidate will have strong attention and motivation to multicultural competence, demonstrated by awareness of their areas for multicultural growth, an openness to working with a wide range of diverse clients, and the pursuit of continued education.
Desired Qualifications:
Candidates who are three plus years post-licensure and have experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: diverse range of client presenting concerns and diversity variables, short-term/brief therapy, crisis intervention, and outreach programming.
General responsibilities:
This position is embedded within the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM). The Embedded Counselor (EC) will have a split schedule in which 80 percent of their time will be serving NSM students and 20 percent at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) serving undergraduate and graduate students, staff, and faculty. The EC's primary responsibility will be providing mental health counseling, consultation, and outreach to the NSM students. The EC will establish and maintain service presence within NSM, including networking and marketing service availability, assessing, and addressing stigma and barriers to seeking services, and collaborating with administration, faculty, and staff to meet clinical and programmatic needs of the NSM students. Overall, the EC will provide multi-culturally competent individual, couples, and group services within a short-term therapy framework; facilitate mental health workshops; adhere to stepped care principles in assessing a student's fit for services; perform crisis intervention and assessment and engage in consultation and outreach.

Within our Stepped Care model, our services include triage, essential skills workshops, single session therapy, group counseling, short-term couples and individual counseling. We also offer a large number of resources and outreach to include "Let's Talk", QPR, and on demand trainings on a variety of mental health topics.
