Nemours is seeking a Lead SPD Tech for Deptford Surgery Center! This position is responsible for: The Sterile Processing Technician inspects, cleans, sterilizes, and assembles surgical/patient care instruments and /or equipment, according to the prescribed procedures and techniques documented in the Sterile Processing Policy and Procedure Manual. He/she is also responsible for picking the necessary disposable supplies and instrumentation for the Operating Room Surgical Schedule.
Responsibilities:
Operates, gas plasma (Sterrad®) sterilizers, along with the pre-vacuum steam sterilizers, according to manufacturer's specifications.
Maintain accurate records of the sterilization processes and all of the parameters associated with the sterilization cycles.
Regulates and adjust sterilization parameters as to cycle pressure, cycle time, temperature and cycle selection.
Performs biological and chemical monitoring tests on both Sterrad® sterilizers and steam sterilizers, with every load. Also interprets and maintains accurate records of the results.
Prepares the operating room's surgical case carts according to the preference card received from the operating room. Also inspects sterilized packages and trays before transporting to the operating room for damages in accordance with the Central Service Event-Related Shelf Life Policy.
Assembles and performs quality control checks for all instrument trays used for surgery - tray is always assembled according to the most current count sheet.
Is knowledgeable of medical and surgical supplies used throughout the Hospital and is able to identify them.
Knowledge of inventory control with relationship to par level refill systems.
Is knowledgeable and adheres to AAMI, AORN, O.S.H.A. and JCAHO regulations relating directly to Sterile Processing.
Is knowledgeable and adheres to Universal Blood Precautions.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma required
Must attend training course and complete 400hrs of externship.
Required to be a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) and a Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) or a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician ( CSPDT) and CER
