Senior Auditor (Finance)
1. Plans and performs highly complex audits and examines and analyzes management operations, internal control structures, systems and accounting records for reliability, adequacy, efficiency and compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.
2. Oversees and reviews the work of others who plan or perform audits, including but not limited to coordinating assignments and audit activities.
3. Prepares and/or reviews audit reports and recommends improvements to internal controls to help ensure efficiency and effectiveness, proper accountability, compliance with laws/rules/regulations, and reliability and integrity of reported information.
4. Directs the performance of highly complex and complex data analysis using data analytics tools.
5. Directs the development of and develops continuous auditing/monitoring tools for use by the department and external stakeholders.
6. Directs, counsels, and instructs audit staff and assists in the development of lower level auditors through coaching and mentoring.
7. Reviews audits for completeness, compliance with standards, uniformity in method, and adherence to statues.
8. Manages and coordinates various compliance activities at each campus of the System.
9. Stays knowledgeable in the execution of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines and compliance programs derived from it.
10. Appraises the adequacy of the corrective action taken to improve deficient conditions.
11. Performs other job-related duties as required.
Preferred Experience: Six (6) years of experience working in a lead or senior capacity.
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
Certification/Licensing: CPA is required.
