Machine Tool Operator (Finance)

TASK DESCRIPTION

Machine-Tool Operator, Toolroom (19010): Someone in this position specializes in operating one or more than one type of machine tool (e.g., jig borer, grinding machine, engine lathe, milling machine) to machine metal for use in making or maintaining jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, gauges, or metal dies or molds used in shaping or forming metal or nonmetallic material (e.g., plastic, plaster, rubber, glass). Work typically involves: planning and performing difficult machining operations which require complicated setups or a high degree of accuracy, setting up machine tool or tools (e.g., installing cutting tools and adjusting guides, stops, working tables, and other controls to handle the size of stock to be machined. The Machine Tool Operator determines proper feeds, speeds, tooling, and operation sequence or selects those prescribed in drawings, blueprints, or layouts). Work also involves using a variety of precision measuring instruments, making necessary adjustments during machining operation to achieve requisite dimensions to very close tolerances. This worker is required to select proper coolants and cutting and lubricating oils to recognize when tools need dressing, and to dress tools. In general, the work of a Machine-Tool Operator (Tool room) at the skill level called for in this classification, requires extensive knowledge of machine shop and tool room practice usually acquired though considerable on-the-job training and experience.

TASK REQUIREMENTS

The Machine Tool Operator task shall include, but are not limited to:

• Determine proper feeds, speeds, tooling, and operation sequence or select those prescribed in drawings, blueprints, or layouts.
• Use a variety of precision measuring instruments, making necessary adjustments during machining operation to achieve requisite dimensions to very close tolerances.
• Select proper coolants and cutting and lubricating oils to recognize when tools need dressing, and when to dress tools.
• Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.
• Maintain high state of cleanliness and utilize a clean-as-you-go process when executing maintenance duties.
• Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walk-downs.
• Maintain situational awareness and mitigate risks.
• Comply with processes and procedures as per DHS/Department of Defense (DoD) documents and
• Maintain and control tools. Report missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the on-site supervisor immediately upon discovery. Inventory and inspect tools on a regular basis and identify when to replace worn or broken tools.
• Clean work area as necessary, assuring all flammable or otherwise hazardous materials are properly stored; handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
• Comply with safety rules and procedures and perform work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work Promptly report accidents, injuries, safety violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to the on-site supervisor.
• Use Government computer system to access various technical references for airframe repairs and Government training requirements.
• Provide satisfactory customer service.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Machine Tool Operator

All the qualifications listed below are required for this position:

• Four (4) years of documented experience in industrial machine tool operations.
• One (1) year documented experience in aviation machine tool operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent (unless higher education is required for a particular job category).
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently.
• Shall be citizens of the U.S.
• Possess computer skills to include a basic knowledge sufficient to complete internet searches and prepare/edit documents utilizing word processing or spreadsheet applications.
• Shall be capable of performing tasks that frequently require lifting, reaching, bending, walking, pulling, sitting, standing, crouching, stooping, kneeling, and stretching for prolonged periods of time.
• Shall be capable of performing tasks in cramped, awkward, and strained positions and/or climbing up and down ladders, work platforms, scaffolding, and aircraft structures.
• Shall be capable of carrying items up to 40 pounds and on heavier items shall seek assistance of other workers or weightlifting devices.
• Shall be capable of using cumbersome Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) operations.
• Must be able to work 1 st or 2 nd shift as required.
• Have an investigation completed at a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) level or higher and obtain fingerprints.

Machinist Assessment

• The Government will administer a Machinist test part prior to performance of work under contract for any Machine Tool Operator required during performance of this contract to ensure the Machine Tool Operator possess the qualifications required. The assessment test will consist of a basic manual engine lathe and manual milling machine. A toolbox (with all tools and calibrated instruments), material, and machines will be provided by the USCG to perform the task.
• The assessment will be evaluated as pass or fail. The Government Point of Contact (POC) will notify the contractor of the results of this test no later than the close of business the day the test is administered. If the assessment is failed, the person will be removed from consideration for the

Compensation

$39.43/year

Other Compensation

The Company and the employees will share the cost of medical and dental insurance coverage for full time active employees (75% Company/25% Employee) IAW CBA. Employees may elect to waive medical and dental insurance coverage with proof of insurance and elect to receive $4.25 per hour for each hour paid up to 40 hours per week.

Employees are offered medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in KAI's 401k plan. Employees accrue a minimum of 5.54 hours vacation time bi-weekly IAW CBA.

Employment is contingent on (a) your ability to provide appropriate proof of your identity and eligibility to work in the United States; (b) your references and any background check being satisfactory to the Company; (c) you successfully passing a pre-employment drug test; and (d) your ability to get a required clearance by your effective start date, if needed; and (e) KAI commencing performance on this contract.
