Distribution Center Supervisor (Finance)



Job Description

Position Summary

Plan, direct and supervise between indirect labor employees who receive, stock, pick and package parts to support engine construction and aftermarket.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, direct, and supervise between 10-20 indirect labor employees who provide material handling functions to support OE engine construction and aftermarket sales.

  • Ensure a safe environment for employees through adherence to safety policies, assessing and eliminating hazards, improving housekeeping standards, conducting incident investigations, and implementing corrective action.
  • Plan and execute warehousing plans to meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate inventory control of all WIP and FGI product within the department and minimizing inventory held through efficient planning and achievement of lower processing times
  • Develop and realize productivity improvements through lean initiatives, Standard Work Instructions, and process improvements.
  • Motivate, monitor, and counsel employees regarding work-related issues and performance. Gage workforce skills and initiate cross training programs as necessary.
  • Research and resolution with inventory discrepancies
  • Responsible for tracking, reporting KPI's related to DC metrics along with Gemba walks
  • Monitor, measure, and hold accountable KPI's associated with Tier 1 & Tier 2 productivity boards
  • Work with velocity in addressing production related issues
  • Assist accounting and purchasing for receipt and or pricing discrepancies
  • Work with Compliance team regarding incoming shipments, coordinate delivery on containers with 3PL POC
  • Coordinate delivery of offsite parts request to support production and aftermarket schedules
  • Support Program Management schedule for incoming/outgoing material
  • Review and or create standard practice documentation related to incoming receipts
  • Implement 5S across incoming dock spaces
  • Publish weekly labor schedule and track overtime spread

Qualifications, Skills and Educational Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Manufacturing-related field is highly preferred.
  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Word and Excel; experience with an ERP system is preferred. Oracle systems experience a plus.
  • Very good understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Experience with large CNC machine equipment or heavy manufacturing process is beneficial.
  • 5 years minimum experience and a proven track record in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Previous experience managing and supervising in a union-represented environment is helpful.
  • Knowledge of welding, heavy manufacturing machining, assembly processes and lean manufacturing methodology is a plus.
