Electrical Controls Engineer (Architecture)
Summary:
Designs and develops all aspects of electrical control systems performance for production and support equipment. The electrical controls engineer will assess and optimize existing systems and manage electrical controls aspects for new equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned.
Develop, debug, and optimize PLC programs (GE 90-30, Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley, Direct logic, etc.).
Designs & revises HMI' and SCADA systems.
Designs & revises electrical control schematics in AutoCAD Electrical.
Asses & modernizes instrumentation and integration into PLCs' and SCADA systems.
Manages PLC program backups, VFD and PID controller parameters.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project requirements are met.
Oversee installation, debugging and validation of functional controls meeting specified requirements.
Train, coach and mentor operators and maintenance staff on system functionality.
Prepare technical documentation, planned and as-installed documentation: power requirements, field wiring diagram, sequence of operation, P&ID, control wiring, BoMs, etc.
Leverage external system integrators to design, build, and integrate machine controls/programming for custom automation.

Bachelor's degree in electrical controls engineering, and 6 to 10+ years' automation experience designing, installing, and optimizing electrical control systems in the manufacturing sector. PLC programming with knowledge of PID loops. Designed controls panels and control wiring with AutoCAD electrical. Able to work in collaborative teams and autonomously without supervision. Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as electrical control diagrams, ladder logic, P&ID's, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions. Perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
