Position Summary
The Miller's Smorgasbord Busser position is a combination of tipped and non-tipped positions in a buffet style dining environment working less than 30 hours per week on weekdays, weekends and holidays. You will be responsible for ensuring a warm friendly table service and dining experience for our guests and removing all the used dishes and tableware and preparing the table in a professional manner for new guests. This roles serves to expedite the restaurant floor and seated guests in a timely manner. Potential earnings for this rotation position is $15 to $20+ per hour based on actual employee earnings but not guaranteed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Busser position: (Tipped position: $2.83/hr. plus tips)
Removes all dishes and other items from table following the mealCleans and prepares table for new guests in accordance to the Companys standardsEmpty and clean bus carts as neededPerforms cleaning side work as assignedSupports servers and kitchen staff in other duties as requiredPerforms other work-related duties as assigned
NOTE: Non-tipped positions in rotation include host/hostess or buffet attendant positions earning a non-tipped hourly rate based on skill set.
Buffet Attendant Position (Non-tipped at $12.00/hr.)
Rotating food by using the oldest first as the buffet bar is replenishedMaintaining clean and sanitary environment with knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitationAssist team members with buffet bars as neededCommunicating effectively with kitchen team when more food needs to be cookedBe aware of guests needs; assist in providing a pleasant dining experienceCleaning carpet around buffet stations to maintain a clean and safe working environment for guests and coworkers at all timesMaking sure all food items are stored properly according to health department regulationsMaking sure all working areas and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitizedInteracting with guests and providing them with a warm greeting and a positive parting remark showing gratitude for their business as appropriateEnsure all cooking and electrical equipment is turned off at the end of the shiftAttending staff meetings, morning meetings and other meetings as requestedPerforming all other duties as requested
Host/Hostess Position (Non-tipped at $12.00/hr.)
Perform opening and closing procedures per company guidelinesGreet, seat, and present menus to guestsPlan ahead to have tables available for reservationsTake guest information and quote accurate wait times if tables are not immediately availableKnowledge of table availability in section at all timesMaintain assigned section to provide efficient table turnover in timely and fair mannerUse and update table management computer system as neededOccasionally greet and procedure coach groups to their reserved areasAssist in bussing and setting tables as requestedMaintain neat, clean and safe host podium work areaClean, organize, and stock menus at the host areaConduct general restroom cleaning and checks per specsMaintain verbal communication with team members, servers, and managementOccasionally communicate with reservations department via phone systemInteract with guests as they leave the restaurant to ensure positive dining experienceOther duties as directed
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
