Assistant Chief Engineer (Engineering)

Essential Functions

Coordinates with the Facilities Director to plan, organize, and implement a maintenance program for the property, using brand and company requirements.Coordinates with the Facilities Director to obtain and use proper equipment for the various maintenance and repair activities required to maintain all property systems, and use vendors to their fullest extent to help you.Follows the Facilities Directors plan for the training for oneself and other maintenance employees as necessary to ensure safe and appropriate procedures will be followed at all times.Uses appropriate checklists to perform scheduled inspections of all guest rooms and public areas.Advise and discuss all major repairs with the Facilities Director before calling a company to repair.Repairs and maintains all interior and exterior furniture for loose screws, webbing, and joints.Makes a weekly check of all light bulbs, replacing those which have been burned out.Directs a program of grouting around bathtubs, grab bars, and soap dishes in guest/public bathrooms.Keeps all vacuum cleaners and maids equipment in good operating condition.Possess or obtain all current licenses as required in your state for pool, boiler, fire, or health related maintenance issues.Maintains all swimming equipment in proper working condition. Backwash and vacuum as needed and maintain a proper pH condition of the water. Hold proper chlorine levels and other conditions to health department standards.Follows schedule for maintaining all major drains and sewage lines to prevent stoppage.Makes a list and specify the location of all electric motors, switches, resets, and circuit breakers.Makes a list and specify the location of all shut-off valves and what they control.Follows maintenance calendar Preventative Maintenance program using specific equipment maintenance manuals as provided by the manufacturer or obtained by you.
Supervisory Responsibility
Directly supervises maintenance technicians assigned to work on projects. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees and working closely with Chief Engineers when planning, assigning, and directing work.
Work Environment
This job operates in public and non-public areas of the property, including guest rooms. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions while performing their duties. The noise level in the work environment and work areas can be loud.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, lift and pull items over 50 pounds. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

Required Education and Experience
High school education or GEDMinimum of 2 years experience in Facilities Operations
Preferred Education and Experience
Prior experience as Chief Engineer in the hospitality industry
