Contract type: Contract to direct.

Shift: B shift (Night shift) 6:30 PM - 6:45 AM on a 2-2-3 schedule.

Training: must be able to train on Days if needed.

Our fully integrated plant in West Union, South Carolina produces all the parts

that go into batteries used in cars, boats, and heavy-duty trucks. We 

began operations in 1985 and now employ more than 300 people and operate six days per week. We are actively involved in our local community and give back through The Salvation Army, March of Dimes, back-to-school drives and the Oconee County Animal Shelter.

Under general supervision, you will perform safe operation of continuous strip caster, rolling mill, and grid stamping operations for the production of lead grid for automotive batteries.  

What You Will Do

Under general supervision, you will perform safe operation of continuous strip caster, rolling mill, and grid stamping operations for the production of lead grid for automotive batteries.  

How You Will Do It:

• Start up and operate manufacturing equipment in a leaded environment to include strip caster, rolling mill, and presses.
• Execute routine product changeovers of dies for various grid types.
• Perform lead pot drossing and clean up tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the equipment.
• Assist the shift maintenance team with equipment preventative maintenance, breakdowns and other routine maintenance.
• Conduct quality checks and follow proper reporting and documentation procedures for non-conforming product.
• Operate a forklift to move raw materials and/or finished product.
• Keep work areas clean and orderly following 5S procedures.
• Strictly adhere to all plant safety rules and procedures
• Follow guidelines for proper nutrition, hygiene and work habits to minimize lead exposure.
• Take active part in group meetings to maintain safety, quality, and increase productivity and morale.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

What We Look For

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment required.
• Valid forklift license, or the willingness and ability to operate a forklift, is preferred.
• Strong team player
• Must be able to multi-task in a heavy manufacturing hands-on environment.
• Excellent verbal communication skills
