Bilingual Counselor II - Prevention and Early Intervention (Personal Services)

Alum Rock Counseling Center (ARCC) is working closely with local school districts to deliver the Prevention Early Intervention (PEI) Services Program in East and Central San Jose. Employing evidence-based practices, PEI services are targeting high-risk youth and their families with the goal of preventing, reducing, and eliminating mental health issues that may be inhibiting academic success and family wellness. The Clinician supports PEI by engaging families, primarily, in individual and group therapy to reduce and/or eliminate escalated behavioral challenges exhibited by students.
DUTIES
Provide outreach and recruitment strategies to engage families in PEI programming:Facilitate presentations to teachers and school staffHost information tables in community eventsEngage families during school eventsProvide individual and group therapy (meets with families in the schools, community and/or family home)Engaged students/family in counseling sessions using Brief Form Strategic Family Therapy to prevent, reduce and/or treat behavior problems and improve family functioningEngage students in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address severe emerging behaviors that are trauma induced
Provides Clinical Case Management services (meets with families in the community or in the home)
Formulates, implements and monitors individual student/family assessment and treatment planningConducts follow-ups and monitors service delivery and client progress;Ensure that all required documentation, legal documentation, etc. are properly completed within the required time frames.Maintains a minimum caseload of 15 clients.IMHA and treatment plans submitted within 30-45 days.Note and documentation submitted within 4 daysMeet agency productivity requirements. Additional cases will be provided in order to meet productivity requirements.Lead parent workshops and sessionsFacilitate family education workshops following identified curriculum (Triple P Level 5) in both individual and group settingsEnsures all workshop preparation activities have been executedOther related duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MA or MS in counseling, psychology, child development, social work or related fieldBoard of Behavioral Sciences intern number required.Bilingual English/Spanish required.Counseling experience in a community based setting.Effective verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated computer literacy.Understanding of Medi-Cal eligible service provisions and billing requirements.Understanding of and sensitivity to economic and cultural issues in diverse communities.Able to work independently with minimal supervision, and as a positive member of a team.Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by the Department of Justice.Current TB test clearance.Must have a reliable transporttionCOVID19 vaccination and booster, highly recommended.
