Position Summary:
The Maintenance Technician I performs semi-skilled work with limited oversight involving installation, troubleshooting, operation, repairs, and preventative maintenance of various equipment types on the facilities ranging from electrical systems, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, structural systems, and more. They will troubleshoot and diagnose issues in order to determine the correct course of action. They will perform preventative measures to maintain and prolong facility assets and equipment. They will inspect buildings regularly and address any maintenance issues immediately, along with providing accurate documentation. In addition, this position assists other maintenance, custodial, and specialty crafts when needed. General facilities maintenance including cleaning HVAC coils and ductwork, changing filters on HVAC units, cleaning machine rooms, maintaining lint-collecting systems in laundry rooms, manual valve maintenance, equipment inspection and reporting, and disassembling or reassembling HVAC equipment such as air handlers and ductwork involving installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance of electrical systems.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of one year of demonstrated hands-on familiarity with facilities maintenance or specialty trade/craft (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Power generation, manufacturing, etc.)
Workplace Requirements
This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person at F&CP PM Shop, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change.
This role is classified as an essential position, requiring on-site presence to effectively carry out its vital functions.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position, and the proposed salary range is $18.89 to $22.69 an hour, contingent upon qualifications and experience. *Non-Exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime.
