The Opportunity:
The Urban Institute's Grants and Contracts Department (GC) is seeking a Senior Contracts Administrator (Step 4/ Grants & Contracts track) to join our team. As a member of our GC team, you will play an essential role in providing compliance support over the entire award life cycle, from proposal review to negotiating contracts and providing guidance on contractual matters in support of research primarily funded by federal, state, and local government and private foundations.
You will apply your extensive expertise in federal funder rules, regulations, and other requirements to provide contractual management and guidance on Urban's award portfolio to mitigate risk; ensure compliance with Urban policies and procedures and funder requirements; and support best practices in award management. Your impact will be across multiple policy research divisions on a wide variety of innovative proposals and projects focused on generating data and evidence to advance solutions.
This is an ideal position for candidates who have comprehensive and practical knowledge of federal and other funder rules & regulations, seasoned experience in leading complex award negotiations across multiple award types, and proposal budget review experience. The Senior Contracts Administrator applies their deep expertise in grants and contracts to provide compliance support across the funder award lifecycle, engaging and collaborating with program operations, researchers, policy analysts, technical assistance providers, and other key business departments at Urban such as Accounting, Communications, Development, Technology & Data. You will also contribute to broader efforts and lead activities to enhance our processes in support of the contractual needs of the organization.

The target salary range for this position is Min $90,750 – Max $113,400. Salary offered is commensurate with experience and considers internal equity. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Salaries are just one component of Urban Institute's total compensation package. It includes generous paid time off, including nine federal holidays, medical (including prescription), dental and vision insurance, and transit benefits. Urban is unique in that we offer 403(b) retirement plan participation immediately after you are hired and a generous employer contribution after six months of service and 500 hours, with immediate vesting. This position has the opportunity to be fully remote.
