Business Development Specialist (Biotech)

This role as Business Development Specialist encourages enhancing early prospecting, supporting lead qualification, and boosting sales conversions. Awareness of the Lonza Specialized Modalities (SM) offering (cell therapy, viral vector, exosomes, mRNA and microbial development and Manage conference and event prep to grow meetings with target customers at local and regional biotech conferences. And supporting roadshow preparation. This position will work closely with the Global SM Business Development Managers.
Conduct in-depth desk research on potential target customers with support from Market Intelligence.
Initiate outreach to target customers, venture capitalists, and consultants.
Follow up on marketing-generated prospects.
Convert prospects to concrete leads for follow-up by Business Development Managers.
Liaise with internal functions such as Technical Sales, Commercial Development, and Licensing to ensure full alignment on technologies and value propositions.
Support conference preparation and booth duty.
Apply lead generation services like Zymewire, PharmaTargeting, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and others for lead generation.
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering, or a related technical field.
0-3 years of experience in Project Management, Technical Sales/Sales, or Research & Development.
Confirmed ability to efficiently implement prospecting strategies.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to closely resolve and prioritize tasks.
Bold and self-motivated with a passion for challenging and achieving goals.
Willingness to attend local and regional conferences, with occasional travel.
Support BU and business development based on defined KPI's and
objectives
Expected to build a network of prospects and map of the biotech hubs and work closely with their BD colleagues to increase Lonza's presence

As required by law in this state, the quoted salary range for this position is $100,000.00 – $160,000.00. We use broad salary ranges that reflect the competitive market for similar jobs, provide sufficient opportunity for growth as you gain experience and expand responsibilities; while also allowing for differentiation on performance based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at the company between the lower and the middle part of the applicable range. We tailor our offers within the range based on job-related factors, including organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic area and the selected candidate's experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and/or communication skills and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. This range is only inclusive of base salary, and base pay is just one component of Lonza's total compensation package for employees.
