Group Sales Manager (Finance)

Job Description Summary

Under the general guidance of the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Group Sales Manager is responsible for effectively soliciting and becoming familiar with all accounts in his/her market segments. He/she is also responsible for prospecting and closing on assigned accounts/territory to positively impact hotel revenues.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
• Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotel, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services and Reservations.
• Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOP's, and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies by the sales teamMeet or exceed set goals.
• Prepare and execute sales contracts, assist with creating group resumes to ensure quality product delivery and customer satisfactions .
• Initiate and follow up on leads.
• Maintain and participate in an active sales solicitation program.
• Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market.
• Meet or exceed sales solicitation call goals as assigned by the Director of Sales and Marketing.
• Invite clients to the hotel for entertainment, tours and site inspections.
• Assist in implementing special promotions relating to direct sales segments.
• Be familiar with all Sonesta sales policies.
• Conduct a professional, thorough site inspect of the property.
• Operate within established sales expense budget.

Specific Job Knowledge & Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Three years of hotel sales experience preferred.
• Ability to multitask, work in a fast paced environment and have a high level attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments.
• A bility to work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

• Frequently standing up or moving within and outside of the facility
• Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 25 pounds
• Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with others; demonstrated ability to interact with guests, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.
• Ability to utilize computer software and hardware required .
• Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when completing paperwork and management reports, interpreting results, giving and receiving instructions, and training
• Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized frequently .
• Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, and organizational abilities are used often.
• Ability to travel to attend workshops, tradeshows, conventions, etc.
• Valid Driver's License.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift
