SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:
With experience determining the level of supervision, a Hydro Bell Operator inspects bevels and landing on pipe, performs set-up and change over on the blowout station, and assures compliance with the specifications determined by the supervisor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (End Prep):
· Set up and changeover of end prep.
· Inspects pipe.
· Grinds pipe.
· Performs preventive maintenance.
· Assists with mill changeover.
· Maintains clear and precise documentation for set-up.
· Maintains accurate counts and tally of footage.
· Assists in finishing floor operations as needed.
· Assists in mill operation as needed.
· Operates overhead crane.
· Follows ISO procedures.
· Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Preps pipe for testing.
· Operates overhead crane.
· Completes proper documentation.
· Performs general housekeeping.
· Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK HOURS / SHIFT
• Work hours vary or change based on operational needs.
• Must be able to work on Saturdays and overtime as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Experience working in heavy manufacturing preferred but not required.
HYDRO BELL OPERATOR I – this level of Operator is responsible for setting up end prep for all pipe products, grind and inspect pipe to fit specifications and/or, prepare pipe products for hydro testing, inspection, and crane operation. The operator will also operate a crane used to move pipe products. Individuals in this position operate, work with and are around large industrial equipment. Training is provided and duties are routinely carried out under close supervision; however, close supervision is not always available for routine and repetitive tasks, and these tasks can be carried on without difficulty once they are learned. As work experience is gained, employee may be assigned to more advanced tasks that include more responsibility.
HYDRO BELL OPERATOR II – this level of Operator is responsible for performing duties described for a Hydro Bell Operator I and must be cross-trained to work in the End Prep and Hydro Department. The qualifications and experience of this level of operator must be at an intermediate to advanced level. Duties are carried out under limited to close supervision. As additional work experience is gained, the employee may be assigned to tasks that are more difficult in nature and require more responsibility. Employees in this position may be responsible for providing on-the-job training (OJT) to new employees.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
