As an Access Specialist III, therapists or nurses will work to fulfill the role of their position within the scope of their licensure. Responsible for meeting with prospective persons to evaluate clinical situations, with emphasis on identifying clinical risk factors and performing a medical screening evaluation. Assists law enforcement, family members and others with the admission process, both voluntary and emergency detentions. Makes referrals to community resources as appropriate. Assigns persons in need of treatment to the appropriate outpatient program and coordinates inpatient admissions through the medical staff. The “Access Specialist III” is expected to function as a member of the multidisciplinary team by working collaboratively with the team to provide individuals with access to services. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
