Soldiers, scientists, adventurers, oddities...artists? We are the Overwatch team, passionate gamers at heart, and we're looking for a new hero to help us make Overwatch 2 - the globe-spanning sequel to Blizzard Entertainment's acclaimed team-based game.

In Overwatch 2, the nations of Earth are under assault. As the Omnic forces of Null Sector launch a barrage of surprise attacks around the world, the planet's governments and militaries prove quickly outmatched-and the remnants of the fearless strike force once known as Overwatch rally to make a valiant stand. Your Mission

As a mid-level Concept Artist, you'll be at the heart of our creative team, working closely with multiple departments to breathe new life into heroes and reimagine iconic figures in our game's lore. Your skills in anatomy and expression will shine as you craft the dynamic faces and forms of heroes, villains, and the fascinating creatures that inhabit our world. You'll be an essential part of a passionate, collaborative community of artists, engineers, and designers, all united in the mission to create not just visually stunning art, but a deeply immersive and unforgettable game experience. At our studio, we recognize and celebrate the vital role of concept artists in shaping the visual direction of our games. This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is in Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities:

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

• Create character skin concepts , movement studies, and detailed callouts for equipment and weapons .

• Iterate on game assets with internal and external production artists via paint overs, studies, and group critiques .

• Incorporate feedback to iterate on project visual direction .

Minimum Requirements

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in animation, film or game development focusing on conceptual artwork .

• Experience with digital c oncept content creation tools such as Photoshop, Painter, etc.

Knowledge & Skills

• P roficient in the detailed anatomy of humans and creatures, with a keen focus on the intricacies of form, shape, structural integrity, and the defining silhouettes essential for impactful illustration and design .

• Excellent eye for light, value, composition, and color .

• C apable of guiding a concept through its initial stages to a polished illustration, with a solid understanding of how to adapt these concepts for dynamic real-time game environments .

• Understanding of the distinctive Overwatch visual style and a passion to push it to the next level .

Extra Points

• A real passion for games .

• Experience in crafting visual designs that support gameplay goals .

• Working knowledge 3D art techniques & software packages such as Maya, 3Ds Max, Zbrush, or Mudbox .

• Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including but not limited to figure drawing, landscape painting, and illustration .

• An art test may be required based on portfolio evaluation

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $29.81 - $55.14 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
