ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF Development Office builds relationships, generates interest and inspires confidence among the university's constituents to attract private funding to advance teaching, research creative expression and community engagement. Build strong donor relations. The Development Office is the fundraising unit of the USF Foundation Inc. and Division of University Advancement with approximately 70 fundraisers expected to raise $100 million dollars annually.
The Development Office in the College of Engineering at the University of South Florida is responsible for securing private funds in support of the College and its students, faculty, and programs.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Development for the College of Engineering builds relationships with the university's various constituents and identifies, cultivates, and solicits prospects to help build the pipeline of major gift prospects to advance the university's mission and goals. This position works with the Senior Director of Development to develop and implement programs with a focus on identification and solicitation of key prospects for acquisition of donors and upgrades of existing donors, locally and regionally. This position requires frequent time outside the office for donor visits and travel around the Tampa Bay area. The Assistant Director of Development works closely with all members of the University Advancement team to reach the defined goals for the department and individual colleges. This position reports to the Senior Director of Development for the College of Engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages a portfolio of 50 leadership gift prospects and donors through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship established through approximately 150 personal visits per year with expectation of 15 - 20 gift proposals.
Actively identifies and qualifies new donor prospects (some overnight travel required). Assists in securing sponsorships to several critical events in the College of Engineering (such as Engineering Honors, Induction Ceremony, Bullarney, etc.).
Provides support to the Sr. Director of Development along with the Dean and Department Chairs in managing the 11 Advisory boards within the College of Engineering. Assists in the design and implementation of a comprehensive development campaign. Actively participates in fundraising events, alumni relations, and public ceremonies at the College and the University.
Facilitates annual stewardship meetings connecting the donors with their scholarship student recipient.
Serves as a liaison between the College of Engineering and the USF Alumni Association's Engineering Alumni Society. Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree and three years of experience related to development or other appropriate professional experience.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.
PREFERRED:
A Master's degree and three years of related work experience or a Bachelor's degree and five years of directly related experience in development and fundraising, preferably in higher education. Other not-for-profit institutes may be acceptable.
