Extension Services Manager - Mobile Market (Education)
Salary Range: $57,125 - $91,971
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Develops, plans, coordinates and facilitates educational program and/or activities targeted at the needs of County residents and issues; reviews surveys and advisory recommendations; develop topics; identifies speakers; secures locations for events; plans, coordinates and facilitates events; identifies existing educational materials; develops presentations and training materials; delivers and summarizes programs; manages County budgets and financial resources; and writes funding proposals.
Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff; develops and oversees employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and control; compiles and reviews timesheets; approves/processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; assists with or completes employee performance appraisals; directs work; acts as a liaison between employees and management; and trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures.
Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; prioritizes and schedules work activities in order to meet objectives; ensures that subordinates have the proper resources needed to complete the assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff to assist with complex/problem situations and provide technical expertise; provides progress and activity reports to management; and assists with the revision of procedure manuals as appropriate.
Receives and responds to inquiries and requests for information via email, phone and direct contact.
Plans, implements, and develops marketing and outreach for program areas designed to reach County program stakeholders; promotes training efforts and events; works with staff members and volunteers to discuss program assignments, activities and needs; makes staff and volunteer assignments and responsibilities for outreach to elected officials and stakeholders; develops articles, quick fact sheets and program event fliers to promote events and activities with elected officials and stakeholders; develops articles, news releases, fact sheets and other media to communicate impact to stakeholders and the news media; and writes annual reports for stakeholders.
Manages and recruits volunteers; recruits, trains, screens and assigns volunteers; and trains and supervises staff, volunteers, and leaders.
Develops and completes required summary reports for DeKalb County and for the University of Georgia. Summary reports include: monthly summaries, training reports, volunteer reports; and staff activity reports, monthly performance reports and others as requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Agriculture, Nutrition or a related field; three years of experience in providing extension education programs and services; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Marketing or related field required; Master's degree preferred
Supervisory/management experience
Experience working or volunteering in diverse community-based settings and with diverse groups, including ability to reach across racial, ethnic, generational, socioeconomic, rural/urban, and religious lines
Experience with communities experiencing food insecurity
Experience developing, evaluating, and conducting training on marketing activities, strategies, and policies.
